Juliette Brèche has been working as a Scientific Associate for the Council of Experts on Climate Change (ERK) since April 2026. She is also research associate and doctoral candidate at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (LMU) in the Chair for Physical Geography and Land Use Systems. Prior to these roles, she obtained a Bachelor‘s degree in Global Sustainability Sciences with focus on water, climate and ecosystems and a Master‘s degree in Earth Sciences with focus on marine systems at the Utrecht University in the Netherlands. In the latter she laid a particular focus carbon sequenstration dynamics in so-called "blue carbon" coastal ecosystems. Next to her studies she worked at the "Urban Futures Studio" at Utrecht University, an interdisciplinary institute focused on research at the science-policy interface. There, she engaged with the conception of different imaginaries of the future and how they shape dynamics of the societal transition toward more sustainable futures.
